About Tayvallich
Tayvallich is more than the village itself, as the community includes not just Carsaig beach but the scattered cottages, houses and farms throughout the Tayvallich Peninsula from Bellanoch on the Crinan Canal, down past Loch Caol Scotnish on the spectacular approach to Tayvallich village, and then down some six miles of unspoilt single track road to Keills chapel and jetty and Danna to the South West. The views from Danna and Keills are well worth the journey. Much of the area is a SSSI with an abundance of flora and fauna. Auchenbeag is very close to Taynish Nature Reserve, one of the finest examples of ancient Atlantic oak woodland in Europe. The marsh fritillary is one of Taynish's special attractions. Visitors to Taynish can enjoy a range of self-guided trails for a variety of abilities, taking in the coast, Loch Sween, the woods and barr Mor (bald hill).
